King Mesjko I of Poland.

Mieszko I (Mieszko I, about 935 - 25 May 992), the first Polish Grand Duke of the Piast dynasty (King of Poland about 960 - 992).

The Duke of the Polish State, Mesjko I, followed the historical trend, unified Poland and became the founder of the Polish state.

The Poles belonged to the western tribe of the Guslavians, who lived in the western plains of Eastern Europe since ancient times. Poland belonged to the later forming countries compared to the neighbors of Western and Southern Europe. After the middle of the 9th century, the region gradually formed two large "tribal princeships", in small Poland the princeship of Vistula and in large Poland the princeship of Poland. The princeship of Poland was ruled by the Piast family, in 963, the family of Meschko I became a prince, under his leadership, the history of Poland turned a new page.

Mechko was dedicated to the political and religious unification of Poland throughout his life, but he faced a very strong opponent, including the Holy Roman Empire Emperor Otto I. Mechko first united Greater Poland and Kuwait, but he encountered a strong challenge when reunifying Pomorze in the Odessa region, once defeated, in 972 he finally defeated the West Pomorze state of Viarate, and defeated the German ruler of the region, united Pomorze. In 990, he defeated the Czech King Poleslav II, occupied Silesia, and later, his son, the brave Poleslav I, united the small Polish region centered in Krakow, and finally completed the unification business.

In addition to political unity, the unity of faith is also important. The Poles originally believed in primitive religions such as the God of Fire, but with the formation and development of the nation, Poland also began to stand at the gate of Christianity. At the time, Holy Roman Empire Emperor Otto I fought to make Poland's Christianity belong to the Magdeburg Archdiocese of Germany, which was consistent with his political policy of expansion to the east. In order to safeguard Poland's independence, while having decided to accept Christianity, Messko from geopolitical considerations, decided to accept Christianity from the Czech Republic according to Latin rituals. In 965 Messko married the daughter of the Grand Duchess of Poland, Durava of the Czech Republic, and in the second year, Messko and the entire court staff

In 992 Meschko died and his son Poleslav I succeeded. After he further completed the political and cultural unification of Poland, he was crowned king of Poland in 1025. Poland as a kingdom was finally completed.

Although the unified language and economic culture of Poland had been formed before Mesjko, the threat of the German East wave and the pressure of the surrounding Slavic countries remained unknown in what form the unification was achieved. Under Mesjko's efforts, the outline of Poland as a nation was clearly presented on the map. Since then, Poland once divided, after reunification, became an important power in Central and Eastern Europe, long-term an important link for regional balancing forces. As the founder of the unification of the country's political and religious belief, Mesjko was clearly to be included in this influential emperor's list, he was ranked 84th.

Review: The formation of the Polish national state took place in the large context of the gradual formation of national states in the surrounding region. The historical achievement of Mesjko I consists in expelling foreign forces, defining the general boundaries of the Polish national state, and having a significant influence on Polish culture in terms of ethnic spirit and religion.
