Four years ago Muhammad-Arin refused to join the army was convicted and the title of heavyweight champion was revoked. Now the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Ali innocent. After an 8:0 (1 vote abstention) vote, the court declared that it was inappropriate to recruit Ali, formerly named Cases-Cré. The court’s ruling opinion accused the recommendations provided by the Department of Justice to the Military Service of being fraudulent. The allegation that Ali refused military service was unfounded.
