Gu Zhizhong was born (1898-1995), a Chinese journalist and journalism educator. Shanghai native. Born July 14, 1898. He graduated from middle school in 1919 and studied at Soochow University. In 1923, he served as a reporter of Shanghai Times. In 1927, he was appointed as a reporter of Shanghai News. In 1928, he founded Minzhi Journalism College in Shanghai in his spare time. In 1931, after the September 18th Incident, when Japanese imperialism launched its invasion of China, he joined the Teachers' Salvation Association and the Great Alliance of Economic Break-up with Japan. From 1934 to 1935, he visited Europe, the Soviet Union, the United States, Japan and other places. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japan, he was attacked and wounded by Japanese and puppet agents in August 1940. In September, he moved to the rear of the Anti-Japanese War. In 1942, he continued to set up the People's Governance Journalism College in Chongqing. In 1944, he went to India and served as the president and editor-in-chief of India Daily, an overseas Chinese newspaper in Calcutta. In 1946, he returned to Shanghai and continued to run the People's Journalism College. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he went to Beijing and served as editor of Higher Education Press. He is a member of the Fifth and Sixth National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a special director of the All-China Journalists Association, and a consultant of the Capital Press Society. Still writes regularly for newspapers. He is the author of Journey to the West, Going to Qinghai, A Record of Northeast Calling to the Heaven, Miscellaneous Memories of Bao Hai, etc., and has translated Romance of the Gods into English. He has been engaged in journalism education for 60 years, and has served as chairman and honorary chairman of local government journalism special schools in Shanghai, Chongqing, Yangon, Kalkutha, Hong Kong, Beijing, etc., and has cultivated a large number of journalism professionals and influential journalism educators.
