Dale Carnegie, author of How to Win Friends and Influence People, died today at the age of 64 after a long illness. Carnegie was born in Missouri and spent most of his life in poverty. He did many jobs, including as a temporary stunt double, but unfortunately almost all of them were unsuccessful. When he was twenty-four or fifteen years old, he went to YMCAs all over the world to teach oratory, and then he discovered his specialty. Carnegie's book was published in 1936, during the heavy period of the Great Depression. People who are eager to get jobs are eager to look more exciting than other candidates, so they buy this book in millions. By his death, 4.9 million copies had been sold. Critics say that the mystery of the book's success is actually one sentence: smile more and argue less. Carnegie, born on November 24th, 1888 in Maryville, Missouri, USA, is an American orator, writer and educator. He actively participated in the activities of debate clubs in middle school and college. After graduation, he worked as a salesman in Nebrosga, then an actor in new york, and finally taught oratory at the YMCA.
