On June 6, 1976, Paul-Getty, a symbol of oil wealth and power, died in his own villa near London, aged 83. He was the son of a oil trader in the city of Minneapolis. Sixteen years ago, he first earned $1 million in oil sales, and his most bold action was to pay $9.5 million in cash to the King of Saudi Arabia and pay $1 million a year, thus gaining oil mining rights near Saudi Arabia.
