In 1923, American businessman Clarence Birdstein invented fast-freezing foods, making his name a family term and changing the way Americans lived. Birdsey invented his method of frozen foods after many years as a leather trader in Labrador. He discovered that frozen foods were well preserved in very low winter temperatures. So he experimented at home to commodify this method of packaging frozen foods.
