Today, 64 years ago, on May 1, 1961 (March 17, 1961), Cuban leader Castro abolished the electoral system. On May 1, 1961, Cuban leader Fidel Castro shouted to the crowd of fanatics: ¡°Do you need an election?¡± The crowd shouted ¡°No.¡± On this occasion, Castro announced that he would no longer produce political officials through elections. He also told his people that Cuba had formally allied with the Soviet Union and joined the Communist group. Faced with the march and the flag of Karl Marx, Castro said in his ¡°Five and One¡± speech: ¡°If Kennedy doesn¡¯t like socialism, we don¡¯t like capitalism either.¡±
