He was twice elected president of the British Royal Astronomical Society; he was astro-mechanical and independently calculated the location of Neptune at the time; he also studied the phenomena of long-term acceleration of moon movement; Adam's research also involved the fields of long-term acceleration of moon movement, geomagnetic fields, Lion's meteoric rain orbit, predicting the cycle of the Lion meteor rain.
