Raul Lewatia Schmidt, chairman of the Party of Unity of the Faith in Samoa, sworn in on the 16th as prime minister of the new government of Samoa, opening a five-year term.

Samoa's parliament held its first meeting after the general election on the same day, and appointed Rauli as the new prime minister of the country through the nomination of the Faith Unity Party, which holds more than half of the seats in the parliament. Rauli was then sworn in under the witness of the head of state Tuimale Alifano.

Rauli, born in 1966, has rich political experience. He served as the speaker and deputy speaker of parliament, and twice as the minister of agriculture, fisheries and scientific research.

Parliamentary elections in Samoa were held on August 29.According to the results announced by the Saeed Election Commission on September 5, the Unity Party won 30 of the 51 seats in parliament and was able to form a separate cabinet.
