Kirk is an advocate for the right to have guns. He once said at an event in 2023 that in a society where citizens own guns, it is impossible to have absolutely no shooting deaths and that in order to preserve the Second Amendment to protect our other gifted human rights, it is a necessary cost for those who die every year from shooting unfortunately.

The deaths of Kirk are not only the most notorious shooting incidents in the United States, but also the latest in growing political violence.
