On September 16th, local time, Takayuki Kobayashi, the former Japanese Minister of Economic Security, held a press conference and officially announced his participation in the upcoming presidential election of the Liberal Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party lost more than half of its seats in both the parliamentary elections in October last year and the Senate elections in July this year, and the ruling coalition of the Democratic Party and the Communist Party lost more than half of its seats in both houses.
