Makarenko (1888-1939) was a Soviet educator and writer. He once served as the principal of a primary school and has been fully engaged in the education and transformation of street children and juvenile offenders since 1920. He successively led the establishment of the Gorky Engineering Corps and the Dzerzhinsky Commune, advocating that schools should cultivate members of society with a sense of responsibility, honor, and discipline.
