British novelist Anthony Burgess was born

Anthony Burgess (1917~1993) was a well-known contemporary British novelist, playwright, critic and composer. Born on February 25, 1917, in Manchester to a Catholic middle-class family. He majored in English literature and English phonetics at the University of Manchester. After graduating in 1940, he served for six years in the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War II. From 1946 to 50, he taught at the University of Birmingham, and from 1954 to 59, he was officially stationed in Malaysia and Brunei to be responsible for education. During this time, he accumulated a large amount of creative materials and completed the Malaya Trilogy. In 1959, he was diagnosed with an incurable disease, so he returned to China and became a professional writer, hoping to leave some life security for his wife, but it turned out that the diagnosis was wrong.

Burgess has written more than 50 books in his life and was nominated for the Nobel Prize. His most famous novel is "A Clockwork Orange", which makes him known as a novelist with comedy and satirical genius.
