On this day, 70 years ago, on January 31, 1955 (January 8, 1955 in the lunar calendar), the Ministry of Health of China proposed appropriate birth control. On January 31, 1955, the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Health submitted the "Report on Family Control Issues" to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The "Report" believes that under today's historical conditions in China, birth control should be exercised. China now has a population of more than 600 million, and its population will increase by 12 million to 15 million every year. Under current conditions, the population is increasing too rapidly, which will temporarily cause difficulties for both the country and families. On March 1, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China approved the Report. The instructions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China pointed out that birth control is a major policy issue related to the lives of the broad masses of people. Under the current historical conditions, for the benefit of the country, families and the new generation, the party is in favor of appropriate birth control.
