On this day, 54 years ago, November 11, 1971 (September 24, 1971, the United Nations General Assembly restored my country's legal seat. The United Nations is a product of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the most extensive and important world organization in the contemporary world. It is a forum for people in the world to express various will, wishes and demands. There, countries around the world can express opinions on all issues related to the future of mankind. Since its establishment, the United Nations has played a positive role in solving some major problems in the world. China is one of the founding members of the United Nations. After the founding of New China, China's seat in the United Nations has been illegally occupied by the Taiwan authorities. On November 11, 1971, after the United Nations General Assembly decided to restore my country's legal seat in the United Nations, my delegation headed by Qiao Guanhua and Deputy Head Huang Huawei arrived in New York to officially attend the 26th session of the United Nations General Assembly. When the China delegation walked into the conference hall of the United Nations Building, the audience stood up and applauded warmly for a long time. Many representatives came forward to shake hands with my country's representatives. Representatives of 57 countries delivered welcome speeches at the meeting. Due to time constraints, some representatives had to make written speeches. These representatives 'speeches were passionate and deeply touching. The conference, which was originally scheduled to end in half a day, was extended to six hours. Head Qiao Guanhua stepped onto the podium and comprehensively elaborated on my government's principled position on a series of major international issues. I hope that the spirit of the United Nations Charter will be truly implemented and declare that China will stand with all peace-loving and justice-upholding countries and peoples, and work together to safeguard the national independence and national sovereignty of all countries, safeguard world peace and promote the cause of human progress. His speech won prolonged applause, and many foreign representatives once again came to the China delegation to shake hands and congratulate them. Thanks to the great work done by the China delegation, the people of the world and the vast majority of countries have begun to understand, sympathize with and support China and have strengthened cooperation with China.
