Münzer, Germany, launched an uprising

Thomas Münzer (c. 1490-1525) was a radical leader of the German Reformation and leader of the German Peasants 'War of 1524-1525. He is well educated and proficient in Latin and Greek. At the age of 15, he organized a secret group against the Catholic Church.

After Martin Luther's religious reform in 1517, although it had an impact on the Catholic Church, his "moderate" actions could not resolve the contradiction between the broad masses of farmers and the feudal lords. The Prague Declaration was issued in 1521, advocating the use of violence to achieve social change. Therefore, magnificent peasant wars began one after another.

In the summer of 1524, Tuwaben farmers first revolted, with 30,000 to 40,000 people participating.

On March 17, 1525, Father Minzer led farmers to revolt in the central city of Muirhausen and established the uprising regime-the Yongle Conference. It also launched peasant uprisings in Thuringia and Saxony as the center of the uprising. The rebels fought against the feudal rulers. They captured cities, manors, fortresses and monasteries, and divided the land and property of the feudal lords. However, due to the lack of strict organization and unified command of the uprising troops in various places, as well as the betrayal of the citizens, they were defeated one by one by the ruling class. On May 16, 1525, Münzer led the peasant army to fight a decisive battle with the vassal troops who came to siege at Frankenhausen. In this battle, he was unfortunately captured and killed on May 27. He was only 35 years old.

This uprising dealt a heavy blow to feudal rule in Germany.
