On this day, 29 years ago, October 18, 1996 (September 7, 1996 in the lunar calendar), Tao Feng, the murderer of Dai Houying, was sentenced to death in the first instance. On October 18, 1996, Tao Feng, the murderer who brutally killed female writer Dai Houying and her niece Dai Hui, was sentenced to death by the Second Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai City. After the defendant Tao Feng killed Dai Houying and Dai Hui at Dai Houying's home in Shanghai on August 25 this year, he fled Shanghai with cloisonne bracelets, Shanghai brand women's watches, brooches (the actual value of the stolen property is 227 yuan in addition to the passbook) and other stolen goods. He was later arrested and brought to justice in his native Anhui Province. After trial, the Second Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai City held that the defendant Tao Feng deliberately killed the two people and robbed the money for money.
