On this day, 87 years ago, April 5, 1938 (March 5, 1938, the lunar calendar), Zhang Guotao fled Yan 'an and the Communist Party of China expelled him from the party. On April 5, 1938, Zhang Guotao, acting chairman of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, visited the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region and fled to Xi'an after participating in the sacrifice to the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor. On the 7th, he went to Wuhan under the protection of Hu Zong in the south and published a "Message to the People of the People", accusing Mao Zedong and other Communist Party leaders of "being independent, establishing a separate door, and not putting the country and the nation first", and made a written statement to break away from the Communist Party. On the 18th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Decision on Expulsion of Zhang Guotao from the Party." On the 19th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Outline of the Report on the Expulsion of Zhang Guotao from the Party." The outline points out in detail the history of Zhang Guotao's desertion from the party, the historical roots of his desertion and his attitude towards Zhang Guotao's desertion. It was pointed out that Zhang Guotao's resignation from the party was not only no loss to the Communist Party of China, but an incurable pustule. It has enabled our party to cleanse its own ranks and enable our party to move towards its glorious future more healthily and solidly.
