Brecht and his sister in childhood

On February 10, 1898, Berto Brecht was born in the town of Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. He served as a theater screenwriter and director when he was young. He participated in the workers 'movement. After 1933, he went into exile in mainland Europe. He went to the United States via the Soviet Union in 1941, but was persecuted after the war and returned to Europe in 1947. He settled in East Berlin since 1948. In 1951, he was awarded a national prize for his contribution to drama. Won the Lenin Peace Prize in 1955.

He has always started from advocating opera reform, experimented with epic drama in theory and practice, especially absorbing the experience of China drama art, and gradually formed a unique performance method.

His main theoretical works on drama include Messinkoff, etc. Representative plays include: "Mother","Good People in Sichuan","The Ash of the Caucasus","The Biography of Galileo", etc.
