On this day, 89 years ago, on June 1, 1936 (April 12, 1936, the lunar calendar), Guangdong and Guangxi sent troops north to resist Japan. Chen Jitang (left) and Li Zongren (right), the main leaders of the Guangzhou-Guangxi Incident, were sworn in as Commander-in-Chief and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Anti-Japanese and National Salvation. On June 1, 1936, Chen Jitang of Guangdong and Li Zongren and Bai Chongxi of Guangxi issued a telegram for the north to resist Japan. On the 4th, Chen Jitang and Li Zongren led the establishment of the Military Commission and the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Army, pledging to lead their troops to "avenge the humiliation of the country over the years and strive for a front-line survival opportunity for the nation."
