Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On May 23, 1960, Israel captured Eshman, the leader of the Nazi concentration camp
On this day, 65 years ago, May 23, 1960 (April 28, 1960 in the lunar calendar), Israel captured Eshman, the leader of the Nazi concentration camp. On May 23, in a bold international operation, Israeli agents kidnapped Eshman, one of the Nazis most hated by Jews, and brought him to Israel to prepare for trial as a war criminal. Adolf Eshman, the leader of the Jewish branch of Hitler's stormtroopers and said to have been the mastermind of the killing of millions of Jews, known as Ricardo Clermont, lived in Argentina and was later discovered. It was revealed that Israeli agents kidnapped him in Buenos Aires, held him under custody on the outskirts of the capital, and then hid him in a plane returning from an Israeli delegation from Argentina's independence celebration. Argentina was apparently not asked to extradite Echman. The Argentine government has not responded to the unusual method used by Israelis to arrest former SS leaders. In the past, Israel's Supreme Court justices have called Eichman a "bloodthirsty criminal" and a "devil." During World War II, he was accused of being the planner and commander of Hitler's "Final Settlement." If his sentence was measured under the War Criminals Ordinance of 1950, Eshman could have been sentenced to death.
