On October 10, 1926, the Museum of China History opened
99 years ago today, on October 10, 1926 (September 4, 1926, the Lunar Calendar), the China History Museum opened. On October 10, 1926, the China History Museum was officially opened to the public. On July 9, 1912, at the initiative of Cai Yuanpei, Director of Education of the Provisional Government of the Republic of China, the Preparatory Office of the National Museum of History was established. Lu Xun, who serves in the Ministry of Education, surveyed and selected the location of the museum in Imperial College. Due to the remote location and narrow houses in the Imperial Academy area, the museum was moved to the area from Duanmen to Wumen in Tiananmen in 1917. The Wumen Gate Tower and the Two Wing Towers were used as the display rooms, and the east and west court rooms were used as storage rooms. On October 10, 1926, it was officially opened to the public. There were 10 exhibition rooms, including gold jade, carved stone, acupuncture bronze figure, and Ming and Qing archives, with more than 2000 exhibits.
