On this day, 87 years ago, on January 21, 1938 (December 20, 1937, the lunar calendar), China Film Studio was established with its headquarters in Kunming. The film "Defending Our Land" was established on January 21, 1938. The China Film Studio is headquartered in Kunming, China Film Production Institute. Formerly known as the Hankou Photography Studio under the Kuomintang's "Nanchang Operational Political Training Office", it was established in 1935. In 1938, in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War, it was affiliated to the Third Hall of the Political Department of the Military Commission. Under the influence of the Communist Party of China, some patriotic filmmakers joined the factory and filmed three feature films,"Defending Our Land"(directed by Shi Dongshan),"Hot Blood Loyalty"(directed by Yuan Congmei),"Eight Hundred Heroes"(written by Yang Hansheng and directed by Ying Yunwei), as well as many episodes such as "Anti-Japanese War Special","Film News","Anti-Japanese War Slogan Cartoon", and "Anti-Japanese War Songs Collection". In September 1938, Chunyang Cave in Guanyinyan, Chongqing was relocated. Under the auspices of the editorial and editing committee, the filming of "Protecting Hometown"(directed by He Feiguang),"Good Husband"(directed by Shi Dongshan),"Light of East Asia"(directed by He Feiguang),"March of Victory"(Written by Tian Han and directed by Shi Dongshan),"The Baptism of Fire"(directed by Sun Yu),"Youth China"(written by Yang Hansheng and directed by Su Yi),"Wind and Clouds on the Wall"(written by Yang Hansheng and directed by Ying Yunwei),"Japanese Spy"(written by Yang Hansheng and directed by Yuan Congmei and others)7 feature films and large-scale documentary "Long Live the Nation" as well as multiple episodes of news and documentaries. At the end of 1938, he also established a branch in Hong Kong and founded Dadi Film Company. He filmed two feature films,"Island Paradise"(directed by Cai Chusheng) and "Hometown of White Clouds"(written by Xia Yan and directed by Situ Huimin). In the late period of the Anti-Japanese War, the factory was reorganized. From 1943 to 1945, only four feature films including "Return My Hometown" were completed. In 1946, he moved to Nanjing and belonged to the "Ministry of National Defense" of the Kuomintang government; in August 1948, he moved to Taiwan.
