On this day, 82 years ago, on August 21, 1943 (July 21, 1943 in the lunar calendar), Danish writer Pontopidan, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, passed away. Henrik Pontoppidan (1857-1943) was a Danish novelist. Born into a priest's family in the small Danish town of Frederica. He studied at the Technical University in Copenhagen, later engaged in literary creation, and once worked as a teacher in a higher education institution.
