On this day, 90 years ago, on December 25, 1935 (November 30, 1935 in the lunar calendar), the Communist Party of China held the Wayaobao Conference. On December 25, 1935, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held an enlarged meeting in Wayaobao, northern Shaanxi. More than ten people attended the meeting, including Mao Zedong, Zhang Wentian, Zhou Enlai, Bogu, Deng Fa, Kaifeng, Li Weihan, Zhang Hao, Yang Shangkun, and Guo Hongtao. The necessity and possibility of establishing an anti-Japanese national united front were discussed and decided to adopt the strategy of establishing an anti-Japanese national united front. The meeting criticized the long-standing error of "Left" closed-door doctrine and the acute disease of the revolution, and decided to change the name of the Soviet Workers and Peasants Republic to the Soviet People's Republic; and changed the policy towards petty bourgeoisie, intellectuals, national bourgeoisie, rich peasants, and anti-Japanese Kuomintang officers and overseas Chinese: The meeting adopted the "Central Committee's Resolution on the Current Political Situation and the Party's Tasks." This meeting is a continuation of the Zunyi Conference, marking a major change in the CCP's political line and beginning to reverse the long-term isolation of the CCP caused by the "leftist" trend. On December 27, in accordance with the spirit of the Wayaobao Conference, Mao Zedong delivered a report entitled "On Strategies to Oppose Japanese Imperialism" at a meeting of party activists. The report analyzes the new changes that have taken place in class relations within China since the September 18th Incident and the North China Incident, and points out that not only workers, peasants, and petty bourgeoisie demand resistance, but the national bourgeoisie may also participate in the fight against Japan. Even its right wing may waver and adopt a neutral attitude, and even the landlord comprador camp may be divided. The report pointed out that the counter-revolutionary forces are still larger than the revolutionary forces for the time being, and the party's basic strategy is to "organize thousands of people and mobilize the mighty revolutionary army" to establish a broad anti-Japanese national united front.
