Kunming daily

On June 22, 1985, the Kunming Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to resume the publication of Kunming Daily. On August 1, 1985, Kunming Daily resumed its publication on shoulder of important responsibilities. Under the conditions of no office space of their own, no printing factory, and no modern office equipment, Kunming newspaper people used their enterprising spirit to emancipate their minds, innovate ideas, not afraid of hardship, and dared to fight hard. By October 1st, 1986, in just 16 months, Kunming Daily developed from a weekly newspaper with four pages when it was resumed publication to a Wednesday newspaper.

On January 1, 1989, it took two years and three months to develop into a four-page daily newspaper and a major newspaper, and renamed it "Kunming Daily". Since then, Kunming Daily has become a comprehensive daily newspaper and major newspaper in provincial capitals and central cities radiating across the province. In the year when the daily newspaper was changed, the first issue of the supplement of "Black Dragonfly" was launched; it joined forces with national media such as "Qiushi" magazine and "Economic Daily" to hold the first seminar on the theory and practice of shareholding systems in the country; Jointly held a prize-winning essay collection activity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with four units including Kunming City Tobacco Company and Kunming Department Store to reflect the tremendous changes that have taken place on all fronts and fields in our province in the past 40 years of New China, especially the 10 years of reform and opening up, and the spiritual outlook of people of all ethnic groups; dispatched reporters to conduct cross-provincial interviews and launched a large-scale series of reports "Beibu Gulf Diary¡¤Nankun Railway Thousands of Miles"; In order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Yunnan, reporters were sent to conduct interviews along the route of the People's Liberation Army's march into Yunnan, and a large-scale series of reports on "March into Yunnan" was launched.

As the official newspaper of the Kunming Municipal Party Committee, Kunming Daily has always adhered to the correct orientation of public opinion since its founding and made important contributions to Kunming's political, economic, social and cultural construction. The establishment of Kunming Newspaper Media Group is an important measure to implement the strategic decisions of the central and local party committees on promoting the reform of the cultural system. It is conducive to achieving the goal of intensive and large-scale development. It is an important achievement of holding high the banner, focusing on the overall situation, serving the people, and reforming and innovating.
