On July 23, 2010, the First Intermediate People's Court of Chongqing City sentenced Chen Shaoji, former chairman of the Guangdong Province CPPCC, in the first instance of the bribery case. Chen Shaoji was found guilty of accepting bribes and sentenced to death with a two-year suspension, with all personal property confiscated. Violation of discipline investigated On April 16, 2009, according to the relevant person in charge of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Chen Shaoji was suspected of serious violations of discipline and was under organizational investigation. On the same day, the relevant person in charge of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee confirmed that the central government had decided to remove him from his leadership position and was now proceeding in accordance with procedures. On April 23, the sixth meeting of the Standing Committee of the 10th Guangdong Province Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held in Guangzhou. The total is equivalent to more than RMB 29.595 million. After being brought to justice, the defendant Chen Shaoji was able to voluntarily confess most of the facts of the bribery crime that the case-handling agency had not yet known.
