Anarchist Kropotkin died in Moscow on February 8, 1921
104 years ago today, on February 8, 1921 (January 1, 1921 in the lunar calendar), the anarchist Kropotkin died in Moscow. On February 8, 1921, Russian revolutionary and anarchist theorist Prince Kropotkin died in Moscow at the age of 78. In 1872, he began revolutionary propaganda among workers in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Two years later, he was sent to prison. In 1876 he escaped from prison and fled to Western Europe. Kropotkin envisioned a society in his writings. In this society, all material wealth belongs to the public; each takes what he needs; education trains people for mental and manual labor for this ideal society. Kropotkin returned to Russia in 1917 because he wanted to make his motherland the first stateless society. To his great disappointment, the Bolsheviks came to power, and from then on, he retired from public life.
