On June 22, 2002 (May 12, 2002 in the lunar calendar), Hong Kong martial arts film director Chang Che passed away. Photo: Zhang Che Zhang Che was born in Hangzhou in 1924 and grew up in Shanghai. He is a director and screenwriter. In 1940, he joined the Cultural Movement Committee while studying politics at the Central University (now Nanjing University) and was valued by Zhang Daofan. He served as a commissioner of the Cultural Movement Committee, joined the Central Cultural Movement Committee to engage in drama work, and later became secretary of the Shanghai City Cultural Movement Committee. In 1948, he formed a friendship with Chiang Ching-kuo and served as a temporary commissioner of the General Political Department of the Ministry of National Defense, with the rank of colonel, and directed films in Taiwan. On May 30, 2002, Zhang Che was admitted to Hong Kong Tseung Kwan O Hospital due to hydronephrosis. At 7:30 a.m. on June 22, he died of pneumonia in the hospital. He was 79 years old.
