American Shees Uprising failed

Xie Si Uprising

The Shees Uprising was a peasant uprising that occurred in Massachusetts, USA from 1786 to 1787. The leader of the uprising was Daniel Shays (1747?- 1825), was a former American Revolutionary War officer. The reasons for the uprising were the Massachusetts government's disregard for farmers and the arbitrary collection of election poll taxes. On August 29, 1786, the rebels attacked several courts to prevent them from trying and imprison debtors. In September, 600 rebels captured the Springfield courthouse and were suppressed by Governor James Bowden's 4400 militiamen. On January 25, 1787, 2000 rebels captured the arsenal and were suppressed by 1200 government troops led by General Shebad. The uprising leader was captured and sentenced to death, but was soon pardoned. The uprising panicked American politics at that time, and a Constituent Convention was soon convened. Due to different translations, it is also called Xie's rebellion.
