After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as the First Deputy Commander of the Shandong Military Region, Secretary-General of the Central Demobilization Commission, Minister of the People's Armed Forces Department of the Central Military Commission, Minister of the Queue Department and Minister of the Mobilization Department of the General Staff Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Deputy Director of the People's Armed Forces Committee of the Central Military Commission, and Advisor to the General Staff Department. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of general.
