On July 4, 1910, Japan and Russia signed a contract to invade Manchuria
On this day, 115 years ago, July 4, 1910 (May 28, 1910, the lunar calendar), Japan and Russia signed a contract to invade "Manchuria". On July 4, 1910, Japanese Ambassador to Russia Ichiro Honno and Russian Foreign Minister Izsky signed the Second "Japan-Russia Agreement" and the Second "Japan-Russia Secret Treaty" on behalf of the two governments respectively. American capital tried its best to find opportunities in Northeast China, which not only met with unanimous opposition from Japan and Russia, but also promoted further collusion between Japan and Russia. To this end, they signed new agreements and secret covenants in St. Petersburg. The agreement stipulates that the two countries maintain the "status quo in Manchuria" and that if anything infringes on this status quo occurs, the two countries will "consult with each other at any time" on "necessary measures" to maintain the status quo. The secret agreement also clearly stipulates that if the "special interests" of the two countries in Northeast China are threatened, the two countries agree to adopt "measures to defend such interests," thus giving the secret agreement the nature of a military alliance.
