In 1898, Germany built Qingdao Railway Station, but it was not until 1904 that the Jiaoji Railway was completed and opened to traffic. On June 1, 1904, the Jiaoji Railway from Qingdao to Jinan was completed and opened to traffic. The Jiaoji Railway was built and operated exclusively by Germany. In March 1898, Germany used the "Juye Case Plan" to force the Qing government to sign a treaty and obtain the right to build the Jiaoji Railway. In September 1899, the Jiaoji Railway officially started in Qingdao and was built westward. On April 1, 1901, the section from Qingdao to Jiaozhou was completed and opened to traffic.
