Massenet

Manon was a beautiful country girl who met the handsome young knight Deglius on her way to a monastery school. They eloped to Paris together. Manon was not accustomed to living in poverty, so he left Deglius and devoted himself to a rich gentleman. Soon she felt that wealth could not replace love, so she returned to Deglius. The gentleman was furious and accused Manon of being a prostitute. Manon was arrested and sentenced to exile in Louisiana.

Manon's trip to Le Havre to catch a ship is the last scene of the play "Manon". Deglius, who tried to rescue Manon, found that she was seriously ill. Manon asked Deglius to forgive himself and died in his arms. In the play "Manon Lescoe", Deglius accompanied Manon to Louisiana, and the ending was that Manon died of illness in Deglius 'arms.
