In 69 AD, Vespasian ascended the throne as Emperor of the Roman Empire.

On July 1, 1969, Vepasian proclaimed himself emperor and entered the Egyptian city of Alexandria.
In September, the Eastern Army entered Italy, made contact with the army that had captured Vistrius (also known as the Second Battle of Bedriacum), and captured Cremona. After that, the Eastern Legion won consecutive battles and entered Rome in December and killed Vitrius. At this point, Vespasian became the only Roman emperor.
