On October 5, 1994, my country clarified the historical wrong case caused by a moth
On this day, 31 years ago, October 5, 1994 (September 1, 1994 in the lunar calendar), my country clarified a historical wrong case caused by a moth. In 1925, the adult codling moth discovered a much-questioned codling moth in Beijing. Based on this, relevant international agencies began to designate eastern my country as a codling moth epidemic area in 1951, which triggered a wrongful case that lasted for more than 40 years. The codling moth is a small gray moth nearly one centimeter long. It is listed as a plant quarantine risk pest in many countries because its larvae seriously eat apples, pears, peaches, walnuts, etc. In order to find out the truth and allow scientific answers, in recent years, the National Natural Science Foundation of China has established a project. Led by Beijing Agricultural University, the State Animal and Plant Quarantine Administration, and the Plant Quarantine Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture, 13 units within the United Nations have used the internationally recognized codling moth sex attractant to carry out large-area trapping monitoring in 82 counties in Shandong, Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Henan and Gansu, as well as a specific census of 15163 fruit trees. The results confirmed that no codling moth occurred in eastern China. This major achievement of our researchers has been supported and recognized by relevant experts in the international academic community. Codling moth caterpillar comment: The truth will eventually be revealed to the world!
