103 years ago today, on September 4, 1922 (July 13, 1922, the lunar calendar), Sun Yat-sen decided to reorganize the Kuomintang. Sun Yat-sen convened three meetings on the reorganization of the Kuomintang of China in Shanghai to discuss and study the reorganization plan. The picture shows the meeting venue. On September 4, 1922, Sun Yat-sen convened 53 Kuomintang leaders from various provinces in Shanghai to discuss the reorganization of the Kuomintang. Chen Duxiu, Ma Lin and Zhang Tailei were all invited to participate. Sun Yat-sen explained the policy of uniting with Russia and the Communist Party, and Ma Lin made a speech. Participants unanimously agreed to reorganize the Kuomintang. On September 6, Chen Duxiu was appointed by Sun Yat-sen to participate in the Kuomintang Party Affairs Improvement Drafting Committee composed of nine people including Ding Weifen and Zhang Qiubai to draft the Kuomintang reorganization plan and draft the Kuomintang party program and party constitution. On September 18, Sun Yat-sen issued a intra-party communication "Letter to Kuomintang Members" in Shanghai. The letter sadly reviewed his differences with Chen Jiongming, the beginning and end of Chen Jiongming's rebellion and its serious consequences. He said that in the 30 years of struggle of the Republic of China, although it has failed many times,"there has been no more tragic failure than this battle." In his letter, he proposed future countermeasures and policies, and made self-criticism,"appointing inhuman people will lead to the Northern Expedition. If success is defeated, he will take the blame and resign." He also decided to join Russia and the Communist Party and thoroughly reorganize the Kuomintang in order to revitalize the prestige of the Kuomintang and realize the reunification of the country.
