On this day, 58 years ago, January 5, 1967 (November 25, 1966, the January storm in Shanghai seized power. The Shanghai rebels held a celebration party after seizing power in Wen Wei Po. On January 5, 1967, Zhang Chunqiao and Yao Wenyuan traveled from Beijing to Shanghai, together with Wang Hongwen and others, to plan to seize power. They successively seized the rights of Wen Wei Po and Jiefang Daily, and planned the Shanghai rebels headed by Wang Hongwen to organize the "Overthrow the Municipal Party Committee Conference", usurping the party and government power of Shanghai City and blowing up the so-called "January Revolution." On January 8, they established the "Shanghai City Headquarters for Grasping Revolution and Promoting Production" controlled by them, issued a "Letter to the Shanghai People" and an "Emergency Notice", seizing the leadership of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Municipal People's Government. On the 11th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council, the Central Military Commission, and the Central Cultural Revolution Group jointly sent a congratulatory message to various "rebel groups" in Shanghai. "Red Flag" magazine and "People's Daily" successively published editorials affirming and supporting Shanghai's power grab.
