Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Zheng Chenggong regained Taiwan
Zheng Chenggong led his army to attack Taiwan, but the Netherlands surrendered after defeat. On February 1, 1662, my country's national hero Zheng Chenggong, led an army to expel the Dutch invaders and recover Taiwan. Zheng Chenggong is from Nan 'an County, Fujian Province. He was good at thinking and heroic since childhood. His father, Zheng Zhilong, was the commander of the Fujian Army at the end of the Ming Dynasty. His childhood was in a period of great turmoil in China, so the idea of saving the country and the people was deeply imprinted in his heart. In 1646, the Qing army crossed the Qiantang River and occupied Zhejiang. Zheng Zhilong, who held the power of Longwu's court affairs, surrendered to the Qing Dynasty. Zheng Chenggong was saddened by the collapse of the country and the suffering of the people. He refused his father's advice to surrender, burned clothes to recruit talents, and recruited troops to resist the Qing Dynasty. After bloody battles, Xiamen was obtained as a base for the anti-Qing Dynasty. After Zheng Chenggong failed in his third Northern Expedition, his troops were severely injured. He considered the overall situation and felt that relying solely on Xiamen and Kinmen as base areas, the situation was alone and the great cause of restoring the Central Plains could not be realized. If we drive away the Dutch invaders, recover Taiwan, expand the anti-Qing base areas, and strengthen our own strength, the situation will be much better. Moreover, the people of Taiwan could not bear the atrocities of the Dutch invaders and longed for liberation. So Zheng Chenggong decided to use his sword to conquer Taiwan. Taiwan has been my country's sacred territory since ancient times. "Taiwan is the land of China... If you come to claim it now, then the land will belong to me. "This is Zheng Chenggong's solemn oath to the Dutch colonists, and it is also his intention to" restore the ancestors in ten years." The Dutch colonists invaded Taiwan in 1624 and carried out colonial rule and plunder on the Taiwanese people for 38 years. The Taiwanese people suffered deeply and hoped that the motherland would recover Taiwan. On April 21, 1661, Zheng Chenggong put on armor and sword, and led an army to set sail from Liaoluo Bay in Kinmen, crossing the sea to recover Taiwan. During the march, Zheng Chenggong's army encountered a headwind in the southeast, and the white waves surged into the sky. The fleet could not move forward, so they had to return and anchored in the middle of the 36 islands of Penghu. They could not move for several days. There is a shortage of military supplies and urgent action must be taken. Zheng Chenggong issued an order solemnly declaring: I led an army and risked risks to move eastward to recover the occupied land, not to go overseas to seek comfort. He encouraged his soldiers not to be afraid of stormy waves or the enemy's large ships and cannons. As long as they obey orders and work together, they will surely be able to overcome difficulties and regain Taiwan. So the soldiers of the entire army worked together to face the headwind, brave the heavy rain, and row huge waves, and the fleet continued to move southeast. Dawn reached directly off the coastline of Taiwan on April 29. The fleet avoided the coast of Chiqian City and made a detour to land from Luermen. After landing, they immediately surrounded the military stronghold of Chiqian City (present-day Tainan) and engaged in a fierce battle with the Dutch colonial army. The invading army was defeated and Chiqian City was recovered. As soon as the Governor General of the Netherlands saw that the situation was not good, he played a delaying tactic and expressed his willingness to pay tribute every year. Zheng Chenggong firmly told the envoy that unless you surrender and return Taiwan to China, there is no other way. Zheng Chenggong ordered an immediate attack to attack the city of Taiwan (present-day Anping) where Kuiyi occupied. After nine months of siege, the Dutch ran out of ammunition and food. Finally, they had to surrender with a white flag and sent people to deliver a letter of surrender. On February 1, 1662, a surrender ceremony was held. On this day, the Dutch invaders bowed their heads in front of the China people. Five months after Zheng Chenggong recovered Taiwan, he died unfortunately due to the war and horse training. He was only 38 years old.
