On this day, 64 years ago, May 30, 1961 (April 16, 1961 in the lunar calendar), Dominican dictator Trujillo was assassinated. On the evening of May 30, 1961, Dominica dictator Trujillo, Grand Marshal Trujillo, the dictator of the Dominican Republic, was assassinated. According to reports, Trujillo was ambushed by a seven-member group organized by his opponent, Army General Juan Thomas Diaz, as he was leaving his house in San Cristópol.
