On this day, 39 years ago, on November 25, 1986 (October 24, 1986, the China Yangtze River Scientific Research Drifting Team conquered the Yangtze River. At 2:30 pm on November 25, 1986, the warriors of the China Yangtze River Scientific Expedition Drifting Expedition Team drove two red rubber boats and drifted safely to Hengsha Island near the Yangtze River estuary in the waves caused by a six-level wind., thus completing the important task of scientific expedition and drifting on the Yangtze River that lasted for more than five months. The Yangtze River is the largest river in China. The upper reaches of the Yangtze River are turbulent, with a total drop of 5400 meters. It has become a target for conquest by foreign explorers. In 1985, the American Camwarren Rapids Expedition Company was allowed to float the Yangtze River for the first time. In order to complete the feat of floating the Yangtze River for the first time before the Americans, China young Yao Maoshu made the first floating of the Yangtze River alone in June 1985 and unfortunately died. In October of the same year, the Geographical Society of Sichuan Province initiated and organized the Scientific Expedition Drifting Expedition Command, and at the same time established the Yangtze River Science Drifting Team composed of 54 people including rafting team members, scientific workers, accompanying reporters, and security and logistics personnel. Among this team, 11 people are scientific researchers from the Chengdu Institute of Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other units, and 15 people are main drifters, with an average age of 25 years old. They are led by Tang Bangxing and Zhu Jianzhang. On June 3, 1986, the China Yangtze River Scientific Expedition Drifting Expedition set out from Chengdu to Lhasa, Xizang, and turned north to the Tuotuo River, the source of the Yangtze River. The Yangtze River rafting and scientific expedition officially began on June 16, 1986. In the source area of the Yangtze River at an altitude of 4500 meters, they collected more than 1000 hydrological and geological indicators of various types and took more than 3000 photos. In the waters of the Jinsha River, the China Yangtze River Scientific Expedition Drifting Expedition focused on inspecting landslides and mudslides. The Yangtze River has a total length of more than 6000 kilometers. During the inspection and rafting expedition, the scientific expedition and rafting expedition team overcame various unimaginable difficulties and penetrated more than 250 dangerous shoals with very harsh natural environments. They basically completed the comprehensive scientific expedition and research along the main stream of the Yangtze River source area and the investigation and research tasks of 16 projects on the ecological environment and its protection and utilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. To this end, during the rafting process, Kong Zhimin, Wang Jianjun, Wang Zhen, Yang Qianming and reporter Wan Ming sacrificed their young lives. On November 25, the China Yangtze River Scientific Expedition Drifting Expedition drifted to Hengsha Island near the estuary of the Yangtze River, thus completing the Yangtze River Scientific Expedition Drifting mission that lasted more than five months. Prior to this, the Luoyang Yangtze River rafting expedition, which was spontaneously formed by a group of young people, arrived at Wusongkou, Shanghai on November 12.
