Kublai Khan was the founding emperor of the Yuan Dynasty and the grandson of Genghis Khan. Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan (September 23, 1215-February 18, 1294), his full name was Kublai Khan, a Mongolian, the fourth son of Tuolei, and his mother Ruheteini. On May 5, 1260, under the support of some princes and ministers, he ascended the throne and became Emperor of the Great Mongolia (Great Khan of the Mongolian Empire), but it was not universally recognized. On December 18, 1271, Kublai Khan changed the name of the country from "Greater Mongolia" to "Greater Yuan," from the emperor of Greater Mongolia to the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, officially established the Yuan Dynasty, became the first emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, with the temple name Shizu in Chinese, posthumous title Shengde Shengong Wenwu Emperor, and posthumous title Xue Chan Khan in Mongolian. In 1251, the Prime Minister served in the Southern Han Dynasty, and in 1253, he led the army to destroy Dali. In 1259 (the ninth year of Emperor Xianzong of the Yuan Dynasty), when they attacked Ezhou (now Wuchang, Hubei Province), they received the news that the Mongolian Khan (Emperor Xianzong of the Yuan Dynasty) had died in Taizhou and decided to return north. In 1260, Kublai Khan took the position of Great Khan in Kaiping (now the north bank of the East Lightning River in Zhenglan Flag, Inner Mongolia), and his year was named Zhongtong. In 1271, the country's name was established. In 1279 (16th year of the Yuan Dynasty), Nanlai was eliminated and the whole country was unified. During his reign, he paid attention to absorbing the ruling experience of the Han Dynasty in successive dynasties, established various systems including the provincial system, strengthened control over border areas, focused on farming and mulberry, and built water conservancy, so that social and economic development could be restored. It laid the foundation for consolidating and developing China's unified multi-ethnic country. He died on February 18, 1294 (the 22nd day of the first month of the 31st year of the Yuan Dynasty).
