February 14, 1958 Iraq established the Arab Federation
On this day, 67 years ago, February 14, 1958 (December 26, 1957 in the lunar calendar), Iraq established the Arab Federation. Soldiers of the Arab Uprising On February 14, 1958, the Kingdom of Iraq and the Kingdom of Jordan jointly established the Arab Federation, with King Faisal of Iraq as head of state. On February 1, 1958, Egypt and Syria established the United Arab Republic. On February 14, King Faisal of Iraq and King Hussein of Jordan announced in Amman that the two countries would merge into an "Arab Federation" or the "I-Jordanian Federation."
