On June 2, 2004 (April 15, 2004 in the lunar calendar), the Shanghai F1 track was completed. The total area of the Shanghai International Circuit is approximately 5.3 square kilometers. It consists of a racing track area, a commercial expo area, a cultural and entertainment area and a development reserved area. The total length of the racing track is about 7 kilometers and consists of Formula 1 tracks and other types of tracks. The Formula One circuit is approximately 5.3 kilometres long and 12 to 18 metres wide. The overall shape of the track is like a dancing "up" character. In addition to sharing some with Formula 1 events, it can also host various different events. The design grandstand size of the racing track is about 200,000 people, of which the fixed grandstand with a roof has about 50,000 seats, and the rest are sloping open-air grandstands.
