Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Waterloo Station in the UK officially opens to traffic
Waterloo Station was officially opened to traffic on July 11, 1848. Waterloo station is an important railway and transportation complex station in London, England. It is located in Lambeth, London, near the South Bank. Waterloo Station includes a total of 4 adjacent railway stations (Waterloo Main Station, Waterloo International Station, East Waterloo Station and Waterloo Metro Station) and 1 bus stop.
Waterloo International Station, adjacent to Waterloo's main station, was once the starting station of Eurostar (a high-speed train that connects London with Paris and Brussels through the Anglo-French Cross-Harbour Tunnel) in the UK. According to passenger records from 2004 - 2005 and 2005 - 2006, Waterloo Station is currently the busiest station in the UK because of Eurostar's docking here. However, when the Channel Tunnel Link Railway was fully opened to traffic in November 2007, Waterloo Station stopped operating on international lines.
