On this day, 125 years ago, May 22, 1900 (April 24, 1900, the lunar calendar), Li Fuchun's birthday. Born on May 22, 1900, in Changsha City, Hunan Province. In 1919, he went to France to work and study. Joined the Communist Youth League of China in 1921. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1922 and was one of the leaders of the General Branch of the Communist Party of China in Europe. In 1925, he returned to China to participate in the Northern Expedition. He served as representative of the Second Army and director of the Political Department of the Northern Expedition Army, member of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and acting secretary of the Provincial Committee. After 1927, he served successively as Minister of Propaganda of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Fanan District Committee of Shanghai, and Minister of Propaganda and Acting Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. In 1931, he served as Secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1934, he participated in the Long March and served as deputy director of the General Political Department of the Red Army and political commissar of the Red Army Corps. After arriving in northern Shaanxi, he served as Secretary of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Provincial Party Committee. During the Anti-Japanese War, he served successively as Secretary-General of the CPC Central Committee, Deputy Minister of the Organization Department, Minister of Finance and Economy, and Director of the General Office. During the War of Liberation, he served successively as Secretary of the West Manchuria Branch of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Northeast Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Vice Chairman of the Northeast People's Government, and Deputy Political Commissar of the Northeast Military Region. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served successively as deputy director of the Financial and Economic Committee of the State Council, minister of heavy industry, deputy director and director of the State Planning Commission, deputy director of the Scientific Planning Commission, vice premier of the State Council and director of the State Planning Commission, and director of the State Council's Industry and Communications Office. He is a member of the 7th to 10th Central Committees, secretary of the Secretariat of the 8th Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, and a representative of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th National People's Congresses.
