On this day, 81 years ago, on October 4, 1944 (August 18, 1944 in the lunar calendar), Fuzhou fell again. On October 4, 1944, the Japanese army occupied Fuzhou for the second time. On September 27, more than 2000 people from the 62nd Independent Mixed Brigade of the Japanese Army, under the command of Xiichi Changling, landed from Xiaowo, Daowo, Pukou, Dongdai and other places at the Minjiang Estuary; on the 28th, they occupied Guantou, Lianjiang. On October 1, the Japanese army divided its troops from Lianjiang to attack and plunder Fuzhou in two directions: all the way from Pandu and Tangling to invade Dabeiling; All the way to capture Min 'an Town and Mawei, on October 4, the Japanese army attacked and occupied Fuzhou from Dabeiling and Mawei, and occupied Changle at the same time. Fuzhou fell for the second time. Under the command of Battalion Commander Chen Chisheng, a battalion of the 339th Regiment of the 80th Division of Zhongtong Garrison blocked the Japanese attack with inferior forces for a day. On the evening of October 7, they sent plainclothes teams to sneak into Fuzhou City and secretly appointed the latent teams of various fire fighting clubs as spies. In the early morning of the 8th, the Fuzhou Fire Fighting Association divided into five routes and entered Cangqian Mountain along the bay, and launched a general attack at 10 a.m. People along the way responded to the news. Many citizens joined the counterattack team with wooden sticks, poles and hoes, and rushed into the enemy line regardless of their lives and heroically killed the enemy. Ke Yunbing, a 14-year-old primary school student, fought bravely against the enemy and died heroically. Zheng Wubi, a 16-year-old, died heroically. The battle killed 9 Japanese soldiers and injured more than 10 others. Due to the stubborn resistance of the Japanese army based on Yantai Mountain and nearby buildings, coupled with the disparity in numbers, the counterattack failed. More than 50 people were killed and injured in the firefighting, and they were forced to withdraw to Nangang and wait to kill the enemy.
