At 10 a.m. on September 28, 1945, a ceremony for the China army to accept the surrender of the Japanese army was held in the hall of the headquarters of the First Army of China at the former Governor's Office in Hanoi. The China side was led by the Commander of the First Army Lu Han. Major General Garrig, commander of the US Liaison Headquarters, and several other senior officers attended as distinguished guests. On the Japanese side, several senior officials led by Yuitsu Dohashi, commander of the Japanese army stationed in Vietnam, served as surrender representatives. First, Commander Lu Han read out the terms of surrender to the Japanese commander, which was translated into Japanese by a Japanese interpreter, and then handed over to Yutsui Dohashi to sign and acknowledge it.
