On this day, 32 years ago, on August 31, 1993 (July 14, 1993, the lunar calendar), my country's largest offshore oil field was put into operation. On August 31, 1993, my country's largest offshore oilfield, Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield, was put into operation. The oilfield is located in the waters of Liaodong Bay, 50 kilometers west of Suizhong County. It is my country's first large offshore oilfield with reserves exceeding 100 million tons. It has an oil-bearing area of 24 square kilometers, basic proven reserves of 190 million tons, and a total reserve of 250 million tons.
