118 years ago today, July 30, 1907 (June 21, 1907 in the lunar calendar), Japan and Russia jointly planned to split China. On July 30, 1907, Japan and Russia secretly signed the "Japan-Russia Agreement" in Petersburg. The Japan-Russia Agreement is divided into four parts: an open agreement, a secret agreement, a supplementary clause and an exchange of letters. The secret agreement is: (1) Divide the three northeastern provinces of China into the north and south, the north belongs to Russia's sphere of influence, and the south belongs to Japan's sphere of influence. (2) Russia recognizes the existing political relations between Japan and North Korea and will not hinder the continued development of such relations. (3) Japan recognizes Russia's special interests in Outer Mongolia without any interference. The attached clause stipulates the dividing line between Japan and Russia's spheres of influence in northeastern China; starting from the northwest end of the Korean border, passing through the extreme northern tip of Hunchun and Bilteng Lakes to Xiushui Dianzi, from there along the Songhua River to the Nenjiang River Estuary, and then up the Nenjiang River Estuary to the Taoer River Estuary, and then the Dongtaer River Estuary to the intersection of the river and 122 degrees east longitude.
